How does the free month get applied?

Why is the second month free and not the first month?
The platform needs to activate a subscription and check the billing details are correct. It is also unsustainable to run a platform with no income, and too many people sign up for the free month and then leave. This way we can cover our costs, pay the content creators and keep the platform open.
